Growth requires sales…
But sustained growth requires management.
Sustained growth is otherwise known as CONSTANT CHANGE.
Most companies (management) are proven to resist change whereas the great companies EMBRACE IT.
This is the Mental Model ‘Order / Chaos’ you’ll understand this at a higher level*
If you’ve never grown a large company… this can be challenging.
To simplify, management requires three things:
- Create a long-term vision for the company (examples- Tesla, Uber, Google and Microsoft)
- Build a performance-based culture that welcomes change
- Develop, document and continually improve operation structure
A performance-based culture embraces change and sees change as an opportunity to test and measure against projections.
These new measurements (normally ignored entirely) add to the collective knowledge that help drive advancement in the business.
Change will move everyone out of their comfort zones and should be seen as an opportunity to explode the businesses collective knowledge rather than a threat.
To sum it all up for a ‘post it note’ you can place on your computer:
Performance based organizations use CHANGE to drive innovation and growth.
Non performance based organizations RESIST CHANGE and therefore resist innovation and growth.
