If all you see is gloom and doom then you are not looking in the right places.
Opportunity is all around. When a crisis hits you have to change your expectations and actions. You have to be flexible; you have to think out of the box.
There will be more bankruptcies and more millionaires created over the next two years than any other time in history.
Just like a football game, a tennis match, MMA fight, or any competitive landscape there are things in business that are totally unpredictable.
The difference between what you think will happen and what will actually happen… are referred to as friction.
2020 has created a lot of friction.
Retreating is not a sign of weakness… it’s a strategy of using your available resources and data in the right and proper way.
Many businesses go sideways because they dig in and refuse to ‘withdraw’… thinking it’s a sign of defeat.
Facebook has launched and withdrew on a number of products they’d spent a fortune on.
Amazon has done the same… the biggest swing and miss being the ‘Fire’ phone.
Don’t be scared to assess a product / service / campaign and bail out when it's clearly not going in the right direction.
Keep moving and don’t be scared of failure.
Just be smart enough to recognize it and learn from it.
Starbucks closed 400 stores.
Rolex halted production.
Zara closed 1200 stores.
Warren Buffett lost about 30 Billion in the last 2 months.
Emirates laid off 30% of its staff.
Victoria's Secret declared bankruptcy.
Gold Gym filed for bankruptcy.
Hertz (They own Thrifty and Dollar) filed for bankruptcy.
Macy's, Nordstrom, Papyrus, Chicos, J Crew, Gap, Bath & Body Works, Models, A.C. Moore, Forever 21, Sears, Walgreens, GameStop, Pier 1 Imports, Bose, Olympia Sports and MANY more are all in trouble.
Unemployment at an all-time high.
You might read this and say ‘Wow this is a disaster.’
I read it and say WOW there are a LOT of new small businesses about to start up.
What opportunities do you see and how are you pivoting now?
We took a very upscale French Restaurant that was going to close it's doors, made one little pivot and they had a record May. You can do that too.
On another note.....
Our kids are our future. They will be the teachers, policeman, fireman, chiropractors, medical doctors, judges, senators and congress people in the future. COVID has a caused a huge increase in loneliness, suicides and hopelessness in many of our kids.
How do I know? I have been working with many of your kids over the past few months. It warms my heart to see the positive impact that we are having on all of these kids. These kids range in age from 7-35.
Think how much greater you would be if you had the following when you were a kid:
1. Understanding the Laws of Attraction
2. Knew how to control your thoughts and create positive thinking
3. Knew how to organize your day/week/month/and year
4. Knew and understood how to communicate effectively with all personality types
5. If you knew how to create passion in your life
6. if you knew how to create goals with meaningful action steps
7. If you understood the wheel of life and how to effectively use it to control your future and your destiny
8. If you knew how to handle money, budgets, and how to minimize debt (our seven year old's learn this! How awesome do you think they will be at age 40??
9. If you knew how to create expectation management
10. If you knew and understood how to "read" people so you can avoid hurtful or dangerous situations
11. If you learned how to apply the Golden Rule every single day of your life
12. If you understood how to prioritize all of life's tasks
13. If you knew how to motivate yourself
14. if you knew how to study
15. If you knew how to "find yourself"
Our kids are the future. As an adult, I am sure that you would agree, master that list above and master your life.
