I had an interesting meeting with a perspective client yesterday. He was a really sharp guy...in fact he knew everything...and I mean everything!
He went on about how successful he had been. He had made a million dollars in the stock market but lost $2M in the crash of 2007. The reason why he lost his principal plus his profit was because he was unlucky. He knew he should have gotten out but the timing was bad.
He has a rocking business that grosses $3M for the last five years. His take home pay is zero. Why he loses about $6,000 every month. Why does he lose money each month? According to him because he is unlucky; he can't find good help; the weather has been horrific; and the government sucks! How does he meet his obligations? He borrows more money which he knows he will pay back as soon as he turns things around (yeah right!)
He has an amazing and beautiful wife...he showed me a picture..WOW!! They have been married for six years (wife number 3) and she filed for divorce over the summer. Why? Once again he hasn't had good luck with women.
Do you see a common theme here?
Want to get really lucky in your business? Do the following and see how lucky you get:
1. Treat your body like a temple. You get one body and that is all. Would you leave your Porsche out in a hail storm? Treat your body like a Porsche and see how much better life is
2. Treat your friends, family and anybody you come in contact like you would want to be treated (Golden Rule!) Nice gets nice...do this see how much happier and fulfilled you will be
3. Admit what you don't know. The perspective client above...guess what? He is still a perspective client and will never work with me or anyone else. Why should he? He knows it all LOL
4. Get organized
5. Get someone to hold you accountable
6. Know exactly what you want-create a definite aim
7. Read instead of watching TV
8. Manage your money better than you are doing right his very minute. Invest in education, assets that will give you a return and pay off debt
9. Have gratitude and thank God (wind, spirit, innate or whomever you subscribe to) for the blessings that have been bestowed upon you. If you didn't go for chemo therapy today it is a really great day
10. Give back and help others in need. Check out Make A wish, St. Judes, Shriner's or any other charity and donate!
11. Create systems in your business
